Juno

This is a incredibly overlooked quote in the movie. She kind of just says it and then it’s never really mentioned again. But I think it’s probably one of the most thought provoking lines in the movie. If you really just take a second to think about it, it blurs the lines of personal sexuality a ton. It brings up the idea that humans may not be sexually active beings from birth, the question of whether or not you can start being sexually active without having a partner, what sexual acts constitute sexual activity and finally it brings up the idea that being sexually active changes a person’s demeanor. 

i’m not sure if diablo cody meant for this line to be as intriguing as i’m making it or if she just meant for it to be funny, but i think it’s a pretty important idea to think about. 

I pretty much say it everytime this comes up but junos dad is like my dad. And I think that’s why I loved her dad so much. despite his flaws and confusion about everything that happened, he really just wanted Juno to be happy. He grew to realize that just because Juno wasn’t his little girl anymore and she made mistakes and didn’t see eye to eye with him on everything didn’t mean that she doesn’t still need (and deserve) unconditional love from him. If anything, she needed it more. She needed to know that it was okay she didn’t fit into the perfect daughter mold every parent secretly hopes for. And it was okay because he just wanted her to be happy.

And that’s how my dad is. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t understand half of the shit I do, but he sure as hell doesn’t care because he loves me more than anything in the world and he wants me to do what makes me happy and be with those who make me happy. Which is why my dad is my favorite person to ever exist. He loves me because I’m a little different from everyone else, not despite it.
